AFFA BREAKFAST SEMINAR HIGHLIGHTS

On the 9th March, AFFAwards team presented a special event, where we explored the fastest growing film genre, ‘fashion film’, at the ‘Creative marketing – engaging audience through fashion film: breakfast seminar’, as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Fashion fans, film lovers and creative marketers heard from an all-female line up of award-winning film-makers and industry experts on how the ‘fashion film’ genre is transforming the current digital landscape. Teamed with a champagne breakfast, this event was the perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day.
We were very excited to be bringing this event to our audiences. Australian Fashion Film Awards started with a vision to award and celebrate creative filmmakers in this genre. AFFAwards then expanded into public screening events to expose more general public to this medium.
Holding educational industry events to broaden the scope and application of fashion film, has always been a goal for us, and we are proud to have achieved it with this event, that will pave the way for true impact across industries and foster collaborations. With thanks to the labour of love by our wonderful team and industry partners, the outstanding women on our panel, and Virgin Australia Fashion Festival (VAMFF). We are especially overwhelmed with gratitude for all the support we have received from the City of Melbourne and for believing in our vision and seeing that our commitment to creativity, knowledge and industry collaborations aligns perfectly to Melbourne’s goals of being the Creative City, Knowledge City, Connected City.

In her welcome address, the City of Melbourne Councillor Beverley Pinder welcomed us to an event which proudly recognized the important role of local filmmakers and women in the film industry. Sarah Pike, VP Marketing and Communications MasterCard Australasia: Cherie Fraser, Manager Events Melbourne; and Jessie Oldfield, Award Winning Film Director and Co-Founder of CKOL formed the panel of speakers. Hosted by AFFAwards’ Founder and Creative Director, Anastasia Fai.
